Thought this would be a nice place to put a cache. A quick park and grab before you start the walk into Mentryville. Parking here (outside the gate) is free but there is another parking lot thru the gate and down the road about a half mile...the Iron Ranger found there will need a $5 donation. The first cache of the day or the first hike of the day....always puts a smile on my face and makes me want to go find more caches and trails. So here's a cache at the start of the trail...to put a smile on your face!
Spring, 2011 saw the road freshly paved for about two miles into the park. They've started work on more trails with boarded walkways over the riverbed, picnic tables, and benches...and just down the road is Johnson Park which is being cleaned up and developed.....:)
The old buildings in Mentryville have been seen in many Hollywood films and commercials...so enjoy the park...for hiking, biking and....caching!
