If you're Up On...Daisy Mountain, might as well go On Up...Daisy Mountain!
About six weeks ago, I visited Up On ... Daisy Mountain, GCP07Y. In my log, I subtly threatened to put a cache on top, and now I've done it. The views are nice from up here, and the hike isn't really that bad. While making my way to the cache site, I met a fellow with two boys in tow. I'm guessing the boys were maybe 10-12 years old. They came up the south side, while I came up the north. If you approach from the vicinity of GCP07Y you can visit the north summit, which is actually higher, and has a summit log.
At a large flat area, below and to the north of GCP07Y, you will find a 'trailhead'. Follow the faint, but recognizable trail to the north summit. There are cairns all along the way, making it easy to keep track of the trail. From there you will need to drop down into the saddle and follow your GPSr.
The usual wilderness caveats apply:
1. Bring plenty of water.
2. Wear sturdy, ankle-supporting footwear.
3. Tell someone where you will be going, and when you plan to return home. Then stick to the plan.
4. Beware prickly or poisonous plants.
5. Keep a sharp eye out for rattlesnakes, don't step or put your hands where you can't see. The use of a hiking stick is highly recommended.
6. Bring plenty of water.
