It's been seven years! I miss you and think of you often.
Every time a cardinal lands on the bird feeder or I see one along a hiking trail. Every time I see a purple martin house. Every time your Yankees beat my Braves. Every time I think of playing crazy eights. Every time I see a perfectly manicured yard. Every time I hear the chime of your Grandfather clock. Every time I see your VFW flight cap. Every time I hear an owl "hoo."
Thank you for being special. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for serving our country in World War II. Thank you for trusting me with some of your stories. I know it was tough to express those feelings and share those painful memories you had buried. I'm sorry we didn't have services to help you deal with them after the war. I know you dealt with them the best you could. Thank you! I've found a special place in Annapolis, Maryland that overlooks the Naval Academy. You'd like it! I go to this peaceful place often to rest, think and remember. I hope you have found peace.
