Geocache Description:

A short, level walk from public parking in downtown Parksley, VA.

The Eastern Shore Railway Museum has several old railway cars in various stages of restoration. Walking around is free, but for a fee of $2 (adults, under 12 is free) someone will give you a tour of the cars. Musuem hours are 10AM to 4PM Monday to Saturday, but the museum does not have to be open for you to cache. Please make sure the cache is hidden from all vantage points when you rehide it, thanks. Railway cars at the museum: The Richmond, Fredericksburg and Richmond Railroad Post Office Car The Seaboard Air Line # 8011 Diner (you should see the kitchen in this thing!) The Wabash Caboose The Nickel Plate Caboose (restoration is in progress to its bay window) The Fairfax River The Diplomat The Union Pacific Track Inspection Car 1913 Wooden Boxcar Parksley was a planned community built during the railroad boom of the late 1800's. Downtown still thrives and Victorian homes make any drive or walk through the town quite a site. Original cache contents include a God Bless America keychain, a set of Galactic 8 (crazy 8) cards and an OpenBookOpenMinds orange bracelet. 1/14/06 - This cache seems to be far toughter than it was ever intended to be. A short walk from the car, stand nonchalantly next to a railroad car, bend slightly, make a casual grab, walk away, sign log, etc. and repeat procedure. I have checked the coordinates several times. I will say, however, my GPS (etrex) bounces while I stand right next to it. It can be seen from a side view.
