Geocache Description:

"Boora Boora" was the name given by James Dunlop to the fifty acres of land he purchased at Brisbane Water in 1842. James Dunlop helped set up an observatory at Parramatta, he was the Superintendent of the Government Observatory and Astronomer Royal of NSW. Dunlop made many thousands of observations of stars (with a telescope he built himself).

James Dunlop had no children and the "Boora Boora" property passed down the line of his brother, John. "Boora Boora" is still in the possession of the Dunlop family. John Dunlop became postmaster at Kincumber in 1869 and operated the service from "Boora Boora". James Dunlop is buried in St Paul's Anglican Church at Kincumber.

Depending on your approach to this cache you will pass the homestead. The current homestead was rebuilt about 1907, on the original sandstone foundations. This "new" building is an impressive structure, in a magnificent setting at the edge of the Broadwater.

Please replace and cover the cache properly.
