How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Inspired by the scale model solar system at the Museum of Science in Boston, this cache uses the main dome of the Naismith Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts to be a scale model sun. The planet caches are at the appropriate scale distance.

At the scale with the dome of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame being the sun, 140' = 1 million miles, Neptune would be a 4 foot ball of gas, located about 75 miles away from our scale model sun.

The cache is a large plastic jar, with a log book and the usual trinkets and small goodies.

Ice and Snow may make this impossible during the worst of winter. Also, there will be rocks above you. Please use reasonable caution when caching.

Trust the terrain rating, no climbing necessary.
