Buffalo Family Fun: Serenity Hills Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FSU*Noles: Today, the 'Noles kidlets and I went to pick up the cache. There's a lot of muggle activity in this section of the park, so we're going to archive the cache and clear the area up...maybe in the future, we'll put another one on the other side if time permits. As described by epsdoc, we found all the cache contents in the original hiding spot, minus the actual tupperware container itself...how strange. Everything was clean and dry, so we took the whole package with us. Sadly, the geocoins were not in the bag! The entry from the muggles that epsdoc refers to says: "My friend and I were building a fort, and we found this neat book. Thanks!" I can only hope that the coins will one day find themselves back in circulation again. Thanks to everyone who visited, this was one of our kid's favorites!

Geocache Description:

A quick and easy Kids and Family cache series, in our little hometown of Buffalo!

Cache Details

This series of caches is for kids, families, and the young at heart! They are designed, hidden, and maintained by the 'Noles kidlets in the manner they like to find 'em when we're out "treasure hunting" - in other words, they are your basic tupperware containers hidden in the usual spots in the woods. :) We hope you enjoy the quick tour of our community parks and playfields!

Location, Parking, and Access

Serenity Hills Park is located in west Buffalo, just north of Buffalo Lake. At the time of this hide, there are no park signs or trail markers - it's just an untouched parcel of trees, tucked back amongst the houses. Inside you'll find a very small playground, the remnants of an old woodchip trail, an official city garbage can, and not much else. It will be interesting to see what the city does with this one, right now it's obviously a very low-maintenance park!

I parked at N 45° 10.814 W 093° 53.658, because there seems to be the beginnings of a trail and park entrance here. There is a relatively steep hill here, so be careful with the lil' ones if it's wet, muddy, or icy...this will be the only one of the series that isn't on flat terrain, I promise. The steep hills and heavy treecover will most likely cause you some signal problems during your search - I recommend keeping one eye on your GPSr, and one eye on the geo-beacons, and decode the hint if you need a spoiler. You're looking for a cylindrical lock 'n lock container, and as usual, some stealth will pr'bly be required. Other caches in this series:

  • Mills-Sturges Park (GCRB8W)
  • Trapper's Pond Park (GCRBNP)
  • Serenity Hills Park (GCRD6A)
  • Greenbriar Park (GCRDPA)
  • Eastland Estates II (GCYTVP)
  • Home of the Bison! (GCYTVW)

As always - thanks, have fun, and happy hunting!
