Mule Ears: The Pit Stop has had a good long run, but the time has come to shut it down.

Size:  (micro)
A modest micro on the margin of a mammoth mine.
Stop and gawk at the astonishing Lavender Pit mine. Named not for its color but for mining engineer Harrison Lavender, the 900-foot-deep Pit yielded an estimated billion tons of copper ore during its operation from 1954 to 1974.
The cache is an Altoids-tin micro containing a logbook and a couple of pencils. Don't read the hint unless you want a total spoiler! We've been told the hint makes it too easy.
