Geocache Description:

PLEASE READ ENTIRE CACHE DESCRIPTION BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE CACHE.
This is another cache located in Como Lake Park in Lancaster NY. Posted park hours are 7AM until dusk.

So by now you must be wondering "Why the Thanksgiving Cache?" Here's the story of how it came to be.

This year on Thanksgiving, Woody and I had the oppurtunity to find a new cache placed by HuckleBuckle in Stiglmeier Park. We had to rush home to beat the company we had coming over for dinner. Somewhere between saying Grace and the first slice of pumpkin pie the conversation turned to geocaching. We explained the aspects of geocaching as best we could and elaborated on the pleasure we derived from the activity. The one concept that our dinner companions didn't seem to grasp was why anyone would spend time and effort to place and stock a cache for the pleasure of relative strangers. It was at that moment that I realized what we were thankful for this year.

I was thankful that somehow we became aware of this activity as a family. We have spent countless hours together, getting muddy, tired, wet, cold, hiking, climbing, biking, running, rolling, freezing in the dark of night or sweating under the bright summer sun. We have been places we didn't know existed and revisited sites we enjoyed in our youth sharing and creating memories along the way. We learned a little about each other, our strengths, our weaknesses and who is really afraid of spiders. We solidified existing friendships and made many new ones. Most importantly after the mud, dirt, and sweat was washed off, the thorns and burdocks were pulled off and calamine lotion was applied to multiple bug bites, the smiles remained. For this we as a family are grateful to all of you who took the time to place a cache for the enjoyment of all and we offer you the "Thanksgiving Cache" as a token of our appreciation.

This cache should prove to be a relatively easy find for all who attempt it. It is located near many other caches in Como Lake Park just off a well maintained hiking trail. Minimal bushwhacking is neccessary and the cache should be accessable year round. Although it is not listed as a TB Hotel we certainly wouldn't mind if it were put to use as one. As you are aware we pay frequent attention to our placements to insure their integrity. Finally here's why I asked you to read the entire description. Our intent when placing this cache was to demonstrate our thanks to those who have dedicted time and effort to placing caches. For this reason we are implementing a requirement that any cacher logging this as a find has placed at least one cache approved by Geocaching.com for the enjoyment of others. Found it logs of those not meeting this requirement will be deleted.

Thanks to all of you, The Cayuga's
