Many years ago a colorful morning DJ at WWGP/WFJA used to refer to the pond across the road from the radio station as Beautiful Lake Tramway.
The pond has since been filled in and gas pumps placed on the site. Only a small remnant of the former pond remains to the southwest of the store.

"A correction needs to be made, however. Contrary to popular belief, "Beautiful Lake Tramway" never was a reference to the pond across the street from the WWGP/WFJA studios. Instead, the reference is to the basement of the radio station, which is perpetually wet. When I worked there, we had bricks acting as stepping-stones, so we could make our way across the basement to the Coke machine."
Thanks for the correction. I, like most people in the area assumed that Bill was refering to the pond across the street, especially since he often acknowledged the truck drivers by truck number when they blew their horns as they passed by. Oh well, learn something everyday.
