Geocache Description:

Located on the 'Reefton Walk' track with great views closely overlooking the town of Reefton (originally called Reef Town because of gold discovery) including The Terrace underground coal mine.

ACCESS:
There are 3 points of access to this walk, so giving the cache seekers the option of a short walk and find, or a longer more scenic walks.

ACCESS OPTIONS:
1 - 42º 07.198 171º 52.279 (Limited parking - watch for traffic)

3 - 42º 06.731 171º 52.111

TRACK DESCRIPTION:
Fairly steep and stoney to get onto the higher levels of the track, then it is a rough walking track. Young children should be closely supervised. Track suitable for dogs.

APPROX. WALKING TIMES:
Shortest distance return allow 30 minutes. Loop track allow up to 1.5 hours.

POINTS OF INTEREST:
Overlooks underground mine.
AT Christmas spectacular views of New Zealands tallest christmas tree lit up at night. Remember to take a torch.
Get a close look down on a town with a wonderful gold and coal mining history...with some of the original building still remaining.
Look at mining relics scattered along the track.
Plenty of native bird life.
