Brainard Marsh Geocache Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Brainard Marsh is truly a wet, coastal area requiring the proper footgear. The view is worth the short walk. SLT has recently installed bog walks which allow for a wonderful pathway to the bay and a hidden Osprey pole. Please approach carefully.
Brainard Marsh was generously donated to SLT through two gifts in 1983 and 1993. The marsh is open to the public and is accessed through an opening in a stone wall along Delano Road. The path leads to the shore through woodlands, sandy fields and a white sand beach with views of the Weweantic River and out to Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod. A spur trail leads past a wet meadow and a small pond, where heron are frequently sighted. Limited roadside parking at 41.43.385 n 70.43.852 w is available, do not park in front of any residences. After logging in your find feel freeto continue to the shore and you will find an Osprey nest (PLEASE RESPECT THEIR SPACE) and a wonderful view of the Weweantic River.
