Geocache Description:

Bus stop cache, with plenty of parking nearby, log only, BYOP

Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, has been providing health care to the Nashville/Davidson County community for 114 years. When it first opened as City Hospital on April 23, 1890, with one physician, seven nurses and 60 beds, the hospital's mission was to provide health care services to the desperately ill or those persons unable to care for themselves. Over the years, many things changed and the name went through several variations, though it's nickname of "The General" remains. In 1999, General moved from the original location off Hermitage Ave. to the renovated George W. Hubbard Hospital on the Meharry Medical College campus. The relocation is reflected in the current name and also reflects the partnership with Meharry Medical College, one of only four historically black medical colleges in the U.S.
