Geocache Description:

Ghost Rails is an on-going series of caches dedicated to a time gone by, a time when the railroads were a major part of the lives of the people and communities of this great country. In many places, the railroads have disappeared. No longer needed, the tracks were removed, and the remnants neglected and forgotten. Ghost Rails will attempt to show you some of these places for a short history lesson and your caching enjoyment.

This trestle bridge was once part of the Milwaukee Road, a railroad line which traveled west from the Chicago-Milwaukee area to Seattle. In Montana, the rail line was electrified, and this trestle bridge still has the posts on which the lines were carried. This small town was one of the last stops before the tracks entered the tunnel at the top of Lookout Pass on its way into Idaho. The cache is a vitamin bottle, large enough for small trading items. First contents include log and pencil & stash notice, key chain, 3 colored markers, chapstik, mini clip, pen light, ear plugs. Watch small children, as it's a long way down off the trestle. Wheelchairs can make it to the cache if you drive to the rail bed and go from there. Cache on, dudes!
