Geocache Description:

This is one of two caches set this weekend in locations which bring back memories of my younger days!

Millbuies loch was artifically formed by damming a glacial meltwater channel. It is now a country park and the loch is stocked with rainbow trout which anglers can fly-fish for by boat only (visit link) My parents used to take my brother and I here when we were children, and I also spent a lot of time here in my late teens/early twenties.

I remember:
The thrill I felt every time I went through the tree “tunnel” at the entrance
Looking down to the left when heading down the hill once and seeing a solitary deer standing there
Walking around on a moonlight night and the loch side paths were alive with huge numbers of frogs/toads moving along them
Spending hours lying in a boat in the middle of the loch reading a book and not having a care in the world

But most of all I remember always feeling at peace here in this beautiful place. I hope you enjoy visiting here as much as I do.

Park at N57 35.605 W003 16.492. Millbuies is open from 8am till 10.30pm or dusk (whichever is earlier). Dogs are welcome but should be kept on leads whilst within the park.

Look out for the mammoth head tree stump on the right hand side at the bottom of the hill as you make your way towards the loch! Well, we thought it looked like one - angular head, trunk and tusk!

Cache is placed near the far end of the loch - you can do a circular walk, or a figure of eight one crossing the bridge. Total length of walk is approximately 1.5miles.

Thanks to Moray Council and the Millbuies warden for giving permission to place this cache.

Cache contents at time of placing:
Handshadows book
Noughts and Crosses game
Box Keyring
Shoe Polish
Glue Stick
