This cache is placed to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of our friend and co-worker Glen Evely. Glen lost his life a year ago in a car accident while serving as an auxiliary Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer. Glen’s full time career was as a compliance and enforcement officer with the British Columbia Ministry of Forests in Vernon and he also served as an ambulance paramedic. While his service to our community was second to none, his love for his family was immeasurable as Glen has left behind his wife and two young daughters. This recreation site, that is owned and maintained by the province of B.C., was renamed and dedicated in Glen’s memory in the spring of 2005. The cache site and memorial look south, out over Okanagan Lake and the home of the legendary Ogopogo. Beneath the waters of Okanagan Lake lives this friendly creature which many believe to be a relative to the Loch Ness monster of Scotland. While there have been many reported sightings of Ogy over the past 130 years, efforts by the likes of National Geographic and other investigative journalists from around the world have failed in there attempts to capture or film the legendary creature.
The coordinates above will not get you directly to the cache but to the memorial placed in Glen’s honour. The gate is sometimes locked but it is a short easy walk down. Take time to read the plaque and to get the numbers needed to fill in the coordinates to the cache. Using the two days noted on the memorial, fill in the following blanks to get you to the cache site.
August __ - 2 = North North 50” 12. 3_ _ ‘
November__ - 7 = West West 119” 28. 3_ _ ‘

This also is the starting place for the journey for our travel bug “Ogy”. Ideally Ogy’s journey will see him meet up with his long lost cousin Nessy in Scotland. Also included are a FTF prize and a STF prize, as labelled. Happy and safe caching everyone.
