Gaskill Peak Traditional Cache

A nice peak with awesome 360 degree views! You can see how expansive Barrett Lake really is.
Although this cache is about 200 feet higher in elevation than Lawson 4, it is easier to bag. Once you get near the top there is a rope to use as a handhold up part of the rock. (It was already there.) Check/test it carefully before relying on it to support your weight. It can eventually deteriorate with constant exposure to the sun. The rope is convenient but you can still make it up this section without it. Leather gloves help. Be vewy vewy caful!
There is an old coffee can up there with a log for the climbers, not too far from the better hidden cache. Indicated altitude at cache was 3,842 feet.
The rating is based on hiking all the way. Approaching from the north, I got within about a mile in my 4X4 without lockers. Subtract half a star if you drive. This isn't a cache and dash! Enjoy!
