I have been driving by this sign at 55 mph (ok, so maybe just a bit
faster) for years and never slowed down enough to discover why it
was erected there. I am proud to say that I now know the historic
event behind the sign!
"To commerorate the exploration of the waters of the Pacific
Northwest by Captain George Vancouver whose first camp was on the
beach at the mouth of this stream May 2, 1792."
Do Not attempt to park directly in front ot the sign. Drive to the
parking area just beyond the ravine. You will be parking right in
front of:

Perfect winter sunset overlooking the creek and ravine beside the
cache and sign.
