First GAS Winter Event Cache Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

wavector: Well it has been two weeks, all the Travel Bugs are out of the cache and I think we have seen all the logs. I think you can log an archived cache, I am not sure though.

Thanks again to everyone who attended the First GAS Winter Event Cache.

Watch the www.geocoinstore.com for the sale page to appear for the GAS Geocoin.
The GAS Website will be up in the next week or so, just in time for the sale!
I have been looking at the area identified as needing a CITO and it is really a pressing issue. I will be putting together a listing for that CITO and will make it the first CITO event of this year. Even partially removing the obstruction will make a big difference this spring so watch for that cache listing, I am looking towards a end of March date, possibly the 25th.
I placed a copy of the GAS Geocoin proofs on this cache listing, it turned out really well.

Thanks again everyone. "See Yo at the CITO"

Geocache Description:

This is Medicine Hat's first event cache and I really hope you find time to drop by and say hello. I chose an event location that lends itself well to nonchalant fun. People will be able to swim and perhaps skate but there is no need to do either, just drop by and say hello, it doesn't cost anything! This is the first GAS (GeocachingAlbertaSouth) event.

This event cache is an opportunity for fellow geocachers to drop in and say hello to each other. I have booked the :

Sagebrush Room
Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center
2000 Division Avenue N
Medicine Hat, Alberta
Sunday January 29th, 2006
1:30PM to 3:30PM

I set up this event in Medicine Hat but it really is for everyone and I would really enjoy seeing some geocachers from other areas of Alberta, especially all the geocachers from the Lethbridge area who make that city such a great destination for geocaching. This will be a very informal meeting, coffee, tea, soft drinks, pastries and donuts will be available in the meeting room. If your family is like mine then you may find yourself, on occasion, dragging reluctant children along on a hike, they like geocaching if conditions are right ! The first GAS Winter Event cache is an event cache that will allow you to bring your children along to a geocache where they are guaranteed to have fun, they can go swimming in the wave pool!

This is a worry free weather event, blizzards aside. The Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center is a great facility with a pool and skating rink, the rink schedule isn't out yet. I will post an update on pool rules and note that fees are required if you wish to go swimming, there is a waterslide in the pool area. There is also a special Tot's pool that is geared for the littlest ones. Skating, if the rink is open, is usually free. I will add more information after getting all the details but I can tell you that younger children require supervision in the pool. (under 8 years)

There is no need to go swimming or skating those facilities are just available in the complex, drop by for coffee or tea or a soft drink, it is a great opportunity to meet and put faces to some of those names you see on the cache pages. Please come out and say hello.

Event cache information : Please go ahead and log a Will Attend on the cache page if you even think you might drop by, it is really helpful. An event cache is special type of geocaching.com cache and if you go to log your visit you can see that this cache type only has two logs that a geocacher needs to use, Will Attend, and Attended. The Attended will increment your find count and put a special icon in your Found column that indicates you attended an event. If you have never attended an event you need not worry, I have never held one or attended one either. Please drop by and say hello. The facility can add extra lifeguards if there are a lot of younger swimmers.

I will be giving away two Calgary Area Cachers Geocoins, geocoins 566 and 571 will be prizes at the event. These are the great coins created in the summer of 2005 for the Calgary Area Cachers, you will be able to see a pic of them on the page here. I also have a plain walking stick that I finished according to El Diablo's instructions, no engraving just a standard stick, it will be given away as well. I have placed a White Jeep in this event and it will be leaving this event with someone.
