Lake June In Winter Scrub State Park Is Located On The Western Side of Lake June In Winter Near the Town Of Lake Placid Florida. Contains 845 Acres of Scrub,Scrubby Flat Woods Almost 3 Miles Of Shore Line On The 3500 Acre Lake June In Winter.This Land Is Part Of The Lake Wales Ridge System
A Entrance Fee Of $2.00 per car Honor System required.
Cache is a 50 mm Camoed container with Log and pencil.When placed it contained about 10 misc. items.
This land called scrub contains the highest concentration of rare plants and animals in North Amercia.This is a rare and vanishing ecosystem.Some remarkable residents are the Scrub Jay and the gopher tortoise,which burrows into soft sandy soil.Plus other animals such as deer,hawks,bald eagles raccoons bobcats and a variety of scampering lizards.
Lake June In Winter Scrub Park which opened to the public in 1999 has much diversity in wildlife and uniquie plant communities.Picnic area Rest Rooms,Parking and a Dock at the Lake if coming by water.
The park is under the management of Highlands Hammock State Park
