Geocache Description:

Nago Central Park is one of our favorite stops on the way up to the Northern Parts of Okinawa. There is a great playground near the old cache location (see new waypoint for parking lot) and lots of neat trails and lookouts. The park is very big.

Nago Central Park is in the hills overlooking Nago City and the East China Sea. It is worth the drive as you could spend a nice day exploring the park on foot. We frequently use this as a nice stop on our way up North on our way to Expo Park, Hedo, Okuma, etc…. The playground where the cache was hidden is where we spend most of our time. The playground equipment is unique and the kids have a blast every time we go. The trails throughout the park are well marked, mostly paved, and wind up & down throughout the hills. Just south of the playground is a neat pedestrian bridge with a nice view that leads to some nice shrines. There are clean restrooms throughout the park. You can either park at the base of the hill and walk up to the cache, or drive up pretty close. Cache as of Jan 3rd 2011 is now a ammocan at which I believe could be the highest area of the park. There is a much better view from up where you will probably end up parking than the last cache site (which by the way I added a new waypoint for the parking lot to the kids park mentioned above). If you have time explore the steps that is near the new cache site that go down it's slippery but worth it if you enjoy nature, just be careful because a couple of the trails end up on school property and even though I didn't notice any signs when I came out of the trail (which by the way was about 1,500 feet from the cache site, so you won't accidently walk into the school area looking for the cache). When I was walking out I had to jump the fence and that is where I noticed the No Trespassing sign to the school. Driving Directions: On 58, shortly after entering Nago, turn right on 84. Make a left at the Orion Brewery; shortly thereafter, make a right at the sign pointing to the ruins. You can park or drive up mountain to playground parking. Please cover up the cache really well with camo. Since a school is nearby I'm sure they probably study the area and get off the trail too. As long as it's covered no one except a cacher should be able to find it.
