Dad told me about the aluminum building near here being a cotton gin. Said that you pull up on one side and did some paperwork/weighing. on the other side of the building, the tubes coming down sucked out all the cottom from the trailer.
The Masonic building nearby has a nice new paint job. Dad says that balcony you can see belongs to some new apartments. Apartments in Taylorsville? Don't that beat all.
Dad used to walk into town here in it's hayday. Told me it was swinging. Maybe, just maybe it will be swinging again one day.
I remember coming here and going into the store that is now closed. You could get RC cola and a moon pie or that red ringed bologna. What is now a lawyers office was once the headquarters for The People's Bank of Bartow County.
One of my most pleasant memories from childhood is coming home from church. Dad was talking to Uncle Jessie Lee on the CB radio. Jessie Lee had also just left from the same service. My uncle asked Dad for his 10-20? He answered that he was approaching Metropolitan Taylorsville. My uncle warned him to watch out for those street trollies. I got a good giggle out of that one and came to realize that those grown-ups "play" and had fun just by talking. Well, if it works for them!
