INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #405

”Oaktown Remembers"

Welcome to the Oaktown Cemetery, Busseron Township , Knox County. This is an interesting north/south facing cemetery that is divided by old US 41. There are several military markers througout the site including two Spanish American War and several civil war markers. One of the most prominent features of the site is the large war memorial just in front of the flagpole. This memorial lists all from the towniship who lost their lives fighting for our country. Some are buried in this cemetery some never returned home.

Pictured is the grave of William Roe. His name is listed on the war memorial as having given his life during World War II in France. Roe was part of the 121st Infantry (The “Gray Bonnet” Regiment). The regiment had departed from Northern Ireland on July 4 (approximately one month after the D-Day landings on Normandy. The 121st saw heavy action along the French countryside for several weeks. The details of Roe's death are not yet known.

LOGS INDICATING NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING.

The cache container is is a 30 cal ammo box. Please leave it at least as well concealed, if not better, than you found it. If you find fallen or worn US flags at the graves of veterans, please take a moment to upright or replace them. Dispose of worn US flags in a respectable manner.    If you find the coordinates to be a little off, do not hesitate to post a waypoint with your log.  As always, be respectful, and cache in, trash out. God Bless our troops in harm's way.
