This is a good one for the kids as it is a short, easy walk with information about our native wildlife to be gathered on the way.
NOTE; THE FOLLOWING TILES ARE MISSING, 17 Platypus, 18 Yabie, 19 Alpine tree frog (number is missing) (updated Oct 2025)
At the above coordinates you should be standing at the front of a Post Office across the road from an Information Centre. Look on the footpath for a tile with an image of a native animal, it's common name and latin name, and also a word which forms part of an important message. This is tile number:1, copy down the details from the tile and head off west (toward Melbourne) to find the next tile a short distance away. Copy the details of each tile as you go, there are 30 to find. After the tennis courts, turn right and head down and under the swing bridge keeping an eye out for the tiles which are now not on the ground. You should now be heading back to the east. When you have written down the details of all 30 tiles you should be able to answer the following questions.
AB= Add the tile numbers of the Sooty Owl & the Galah.
C= How many creatures with "tailed" in their names.
D= Subtract the number of the Tiger snake from the number of the Lace monitor.
E= How many species of fish are there?
F= The number of the "head protected sweet tooth".
G= How many birds of prey (owls, eagles and falcons) are there?
HI= The number of the Wombat.
J= The number of Litoria peronii.
K= The number of a black bird with a yellow tail.
L= How many canine animals are there?
M= Subtract the number of the Alpine Tree Frog from the number of the Pacific Black Duck.
N= The number of the Peregrine falcon.
O= The number of the Acrobates pygmaeus.
