Geocache Description:

Ahoy There Mattie you searching for me booty. Well I hope you are up for a trip. Set sail at the following coordinates above. You will need to go in to the quartermaster office and have him equip you with a boat/canoe. You will also need you bring a compass with you.

This cache may take a little time depending on your equipment and experience. The above coordinates are for the fish hut at High Point City Lake Park located at 602 W Main St. Jamestown, NC 27282. Here you can drop your boat in the lake or rent a rowboat or canoe for a few dollars. They only rent rowboats during winter due to cold water temperature but they start renting canoe in early May. Either one will get you where you need to go. I have been told by a fellow geocacher that the High Point City lake staff will not allow you to land their boats on land (see logs), but I unknowing of this have been doing it for years without any trouble. So now this cache is for your private boat or if you do rent one from High Point City lake I am not responsibility for your actions. The cache is on an island in High Point City Lake. Set sail heading north to N 36*00.478 W 079*56.530. When you reach this point you will be at a shipwreck of long ago and will need to stand at the point of the ship. Take a bearing of 90* with your compass, walk 20-22 paces. With a pace being every time your left foot hits the ground. Once you have made it here you will be next to a beaver’s home. Stand next to the closest pine tree and take your next bearing. From here take a bearing of 350* and walk 16-17 paces. There is a lot of beaver activity on the island. When you have completed this you will be within 6 feet of the cache. It is a .50 cal. ammo can. Its original contents were 3 TB (including my first one "I think I dropped it...RUN!!) and a brand new Red Cross t-shirt as well as a few odds and ends. There is a log book and a log camera, so please sign the log and take your picture. This is a muti in a way but the compass bearing are just that there is no mirco or anything at these points.
