This is the first in the Islands of Aloha Series. A standard size cache in Scott County Park loaded with Hawaiian-type goodies to start it off. Do not use the coordinates above - get your clues from the puzzle.
Note: Effective 4/17/2015, You no longer need to write down coordinate clues from inside the top lid of the cache (if any exist). They are no longer used to find the Islands of Aloha cache #5.
Print out the crossword puzzle and solve the following clues:
Across
6. Real name of the "Garden Isle" in Hawaii.
10. King who united the Hawaiian Islands.
21. Flower used in making #17 down.
25. Big crop on the Garden Isle.
Down
5. Airport city on the Garden Isle.
8. Plant whose root is used to make poi.
17. Necklace made of flowers, nuts or shells in Hawaii.
I parked at N41 43.470 W090 31.481. To find this cache's location, change the last 3 numbers in each, following the procedure below:
Take #5 Down and assign a number value to each letter according to its place in the HAWAIIAN alphabet (A=1,E=2,H=3,etc.). Add the letters together and multiply by 14 to get the 3-digit number you need for the last 3 North coords.
Take #10 Across and assign a number value to each letter according to its place in the HAWAIIAN alphabet (A=1,E=2,H=3,etc.). Add the letters together and multiply by 16 to get the 3-digit number you need for the last 3 West coords.
