this three stage cache is hidden in the daugherty hill wildlife area. take highway 20 east from marysville for a few miles, then turn north on marysville road for ten miles. the gravel parking area (N 39 20.346 W 121 20.295) is on your left. the hike to the cache is a little more than one-half mile, across a rivulet, and up a fairly steep incline.
i have placed this cache in honor of the five tribes: cherokee, choctaw, chickasaw, creek, and seminole. these indian nations were forced to leave their ancestral homelands in the 1830's and were pushed across the mississippi river into the oklahoma territory. thousands of native americans died during this forced evacuation, sometimes referred to as the "trail of tears."
