VanZandt Cemetery was originally established by the donation of one
acre of land by Samuel Potter, which was placed under the
supervision of the local grange and was known as the Grange
Cemetery. Over time, concrete name plates were made and placed at
burial plots without headstones, and it is believed all burials are
now identified and marked.
The first burial was Mrs. Olla R. Potter, who died January 26,
1909, the wife of the donor of the land. Frances Park, the first
white child born on the South Fork of the Nooksack River, is also
buried here.
There are magnificent views of the surrounding area from this
cemetery's location on the open high prairie.
The cache container is a small plastic lock & lock
container. Please park with care, be respectful, and cache in,
trash out.
