Geocache Description:

A traditional cache along the nearly two miles of trails in the Green Gorge and Patten Park, a peaceful natural area nestled among the homes atop Signal Mountain.

This traditional multicache is a simple tribute to 'the man who mapped Signal Mountain'. There are two entrances to the park, with parking available, so pick one and enjoy the stroll!

Mike Whittle, retired UTC professor and fellow cacher (aka mwhittle), created a wonderful resource for local residents and visitors interested in hiking around Signal Mountain. He developed the extensive maps and information for the "Hiking Trails on Signal Mountain, Tennessee" website.
We hope those who visit the Green Gorge will enjoy walking the trails in this "oasis of peace". To quote Mike on his retirement as professor and retirement of the original Green Gorge cache, "I hope those who visited it enjoyed their walk in a little island of stillness".
