A medium hike up Davis canyon, with coordinates to 4 seperate waterfalls to enjoy along the way. Cache is located at the 4th and largest waterfall.
This cache is located at the 4th waterfall up Davis canyon. Many farmington residents are aware of the other 3 waterfalls, but fewer people have hiked to the 4th. Recently a trail was cut that enables hikers to get to the 4th waterfall. The trailhead is located at 40 57.966, 111 52.374. Park in front of the trailhead or just down the road near the reservoir. To get to the trailhead travel up 500 south in Farmington from 200 east. This is the road just north of the graveyard. 500 south runs up the hill and then turns south. Keep going until you see a fenced in reservoir on your right. You can either park at the reservoir or keep going up the road and park in front of the trailhead, which is just past the creek. A large brown sign shows where the trail starts. The 1st waterfall can best be seen from coordinates 40 57.949 111 52.116. The viewpiont is along the main trail. Continue up the trail into the little valley. Go past the campsite and continue up the mountain. The spur that will take you to the 2nd waterfall is located at coordinates 40 57.737 111 51.466. Continue following the main trail up the mountain, through the rock outcropping, to the 3rd waterfall. The waterfall is just yards off the trail. Here the trail makes a hard right up a wash. Follow the trail up the wash to coordinates 40 57.815 111 51.238. Here the spur for the 4th waterfall goes north, past a very large boulder. Cache coordinates are 40 57.850 111 51.193. Round trip hike takes me just over 2 hours. Expect patches of snow until mid spring. If you get lost, look for the yellow ribbons.
