Geocache Description:

If there can be 101 caches named for 101 Dalmatians, why not 1000 caches named for David’s favorite salad dressing, Thousand Island? Imagine 1000 little green micros like the bits of sweet pickle in a serving of Thousand Island dressing. Each cache is named after an island and placed near a spot that corresponds to the island.

Neither of us has visited Wake Island. It is an unorganized, unincorporated territory of the United States administered by the Department of the Interior. Access to the island is restricted so it doesn’t look we’ll be going there anytime soon. Wake Island is part of an atoll built up around an underwater volcano. The central lagoon is the crater and the island part of the rim. It is located between Hawaii and Guam at longitude 116 just across the International Dateline so it’s tomorrow there.
