You will have to work out the co-ordinates from a clue when you reach the pub and also a pub quiz question given at the bottom of this page before you do this cache. There is no need to enter the pub as all clues are outside, so this series is suitable for families with children. You will also find in each cache a number to work out the final cache. Except for the final cache, you can do them in any order.
Wirral has so many lovely pubs from quiet relaxing pubs, child friendly pubs and also pubs with great entertainment. Best of all we have lots of “Real Ale” pubs. This series, we hope will hi-light some of our fantastic pubs. There is a FTF in every cache and a Trophy in the final cache. Please don’t take the trophy unless you have done all the pubs and signed the logbooks.
The Farmers Arms is a pub on the edge of Royden Park. A book records the building of the inn in 1866 and how the cellar which could contain nine barrels was cut out of solid rock. The book also list all the tenants and managers that were host of the pub. It has a large garden and often has folk days in the summer. This pub has lots of character with real fires, lots of old beams and vintage memorabilia. They also have two large television screens for sporting events. They have live entertainment on Saturday and Wednesday nights with a quiz on Tuesday night. The Farmers have 3 real ales on tap. They recently opened a restaurant ( Harriet’s) at the back of the pub. We always stopped here with HazelS and her sister for a half after a day in the park riding the miniature railway. What a wonderful family day out..
