Geocache Description:

*** Listed coordinates are for parking only ***

The “SH” in the cache name above signifies a Spirit Hunt, a project by the Miami Valley Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by MVG members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be respectful of the area. This cache should only be done during the daytime hours.

This is a pretty big cache for me. Well, it's small, but it's big in that it is my first Spirit Hunt, my first Multi stage, and my first of a new series called Guided Tour.

Guided tour is actually Mrs. Penguin's idea, and if this goes well, you can expect a few more of these from us in the near future. How it works is, we will show you pictures. Orient yourselves so that you are looking at what I was looking at when I took the picture. From time to time, I may ask you to turn east or north or some other compass position, sometimes, I may tell you to turn left or right. So it's important to do your best to face what I was facing for this thing to work right. Along the way, you'll be collecting information to calculate the location of the cache.

Lets get started. The waypoint is for parking purposes only. Once you get out of your vehicle, you will see this:

Turn North and walk until you can see this expression of a childs love on your right.

Turn around and walk to the marker in this picture. Currently, it is decorated for the winter, and it may be decorated seasonally, so just keep an eye on the background.

This is a families worst fear. To lose not one, but two children just a year apart and not even get to know either one. As someone who is almost a parent, this sight made my eyes well up. How old was Brent Clendening? Brent's age in Days is A.

Look to the south and you'll see this large monument

Walk to it and on your right you'll see a Daughter of the American Revolution. What year was she born? That year is B.

Here is where it gets tricky. Look to the east. See that bushy tree? Orient yourself so that you can see this in front of you (hint: You'll be facing south)

Walk straight until you are able to find Sgt Swinsons Unit when he served in the Army. It's right there on his hat! That unit number is C.

As with any cemetery, there are many stories and none of them are less important than any other, but for now, we are finished with this section. So get in your car and drive right across the street. This is a decent parking spot.

As soon as you get out of the car, you'll see a sign about the ancestors of the Wright Brothers. What year did they settle the area? This year is D.

From the Wright Family sign in front, look South-East and you'll see Stoners stone stump. Walk to it. Really neat huh? Do you see the sea shell?

From the stump, walk east until you can see this on your left:

Turn to your left and walk until you can see this on your right.

Get on the other side of the anchor and notice the year of James Putterbaugh's birth. This year is E.

Walk South and pay your respects to the Wright family. Right where the sign is, was the original location of the "Digging Up Bones" geocache that has since been archived. It was the second cache my wife and I found when we started this hobby.

The next stop on our tour is a log for you to sign. You are standing very near to it, but please calculate before you look. Final cache is located at:

N 39 (A+47).(B-1395) x W 084 0(C-93).0(E-D+49)

Please let me know if you have any suggestions to make this cache experience better. Please be respectful and have fun!
