Geocache Description:

A short walk around the Castle area of Scarborough taking in a little history and some lovely views.

Scarborough, A jewel of a British seaside resort with everything a visitor could wish for. Scenery, History, Entertainment and Shopping are all there for the taking. We visit all the time but as Geocachers we noticed that Scarborough has a distinct lack of caches, just two virtuals within walking distance of the town. To remedy this situation we have placed this Multi - cache.

Parking in the vicinity of the listed coordinates will be virtually impossible so our advice is to park elsewhere in town, have a nice walk and make a day of everything this resort has to offer.

Go to the coordinates listed and you will find the last resting place of one member of a well known family.

The date of her death is given as AB/CD/EFGH (Format = DD/MM/YYYY)

Now take the short walk across to N54 17.AG(D-A), W000 23.DHE

Here you will find the home of a local artist who lived here between IJKL and MNOP.

Continue past this house and turn Right. Enjoy the views of the North Bay as you walk to N54 17.A(P-O)(O-K) W000 23.G(K-A)P

You do not need to enter the castle to find that it was last used defensively in QRST.

Now enjoy the views of the South Bay as you walk to the cache site at N54 17.CPQ W000 23.A(R-K)L

Due to the original cache going missing and a lack of vegetation to hide a replacement in the same spot, the cache was moved on 1st October 2006. Clues updated to reflect new position.

The Cache can be found without leaving the path, without touching any of the castle remains or plant life attached to these and without putting yourself in any danger. It is in an exposed position so stealth is required when retrieving and replacing.
