Geocache Description:

For over a century, the Arundel Corp Quarry was a neighborhood oddity. Currently under development, it will eventually house an entire neighborhood surrounding what will be the deepest lake (40 acres) in the state of Maryland.

zeboConsuming 363 acres in the heart of Pikesville, it was off-limits to the neighborhood while every day at 1 pm, all houses within a mile shook from the daily blasting causing cracks and settling in area homes including ours.

After much neighborhood confrontation particularly after the 1994 construction of an asphalt recycling plant, the owners decided to take advantage of high land values and develop it. It will contain the deepest lake in the state of MD when the 10 year refilling process is complete in 2012. Overall, there will be shops, restaurants, houses, condos and traffic, traffic, traffic on Greenspring Ave. Ameliorating this somewhat will be the construction of some open space and trails for neighborhood use. The cache hide was moved due the property owners cementing the gazebo pole bases to the ground. The new location is very close to the old and is now a nano cache that many cachers are familiar with. The hint reduces the Difficulty level to only a 1.5.
