Geocache Description:

This is an easy Drive-Up cache. Cache is well hidden. (Don't park on the Highway, use the short frontage road.)

The Chinese located in the Auburn, CA area during the mid 1800's, made a substantial contribution to establishing a railroad line over the Sierra Mountains. Their knowledge and skills excavating through precarious terrain in China proved invaluable in "cutting through" the mountains by being lowered to the excavating site in baskets to drill dynamite holes and place explosives. The railroad employed, on a trial basis, 30 Chinese residents of Auburn and, after discovering their work ethics and unique skills, employed many more from this community. The Chinese railroad community preferred their own menu to the roailroad's and, consequently, food they were more accustomed to was delivered to the work sites in the Sierra's from San Francisco via the existing rail line. Many Chinese, using these same skills, were also employed in the Gold Mining industry.

This is a small cache that is not located inside the fenced area. The cache contains a log book and small good luck Ladybugs made in China. We've not been successful at replacing the ladybugs, so there are now some miniature rubber chickens also made in china.
