Located on top of a hill off Jasper Road.
The cache is an orange M&M mini's container with a log only. Please bring a writing utensil.
The old church on top of the hill on Jasper Road has been empty for quite some time. However, the history of the site will live on for a time to come. Buried in the cemetery behind the church is Joseph McDougal, who was shot and killed by Morgan's Raiders when they passed through the area. McDougal, who was killed 07-16-1863, was a deacon with the Jasper Methodist Church and is believed to have been killed while protecting his family.
While looking around the cemetery, you will see many old graves, but definately check out the star on the east end that shows service in the War of 1776. Very neat stuff!!
The church was also a place a refuge during a great flood, whereas it was one of the highest points in the area for folks to flee to.
The best parking will be at the Jasper Video store on Jasper Road. You should be able to see the church for a ways if unfamiliar with the area. There is a staircase up the front of the hill with a handrail for those needing it.
