I-5 - The old and the new Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Discover yet another preserved section of old I-5!

Thanks to Kokopeli, we're now able to share yet another spot of the old Shasta highway, I-5, abandoned many years ago!

From this location, you can stand on old I-5 while looking up at the new I-5, watching trucks and cars zoom by overhead, while imagining the old two lane road and how much longer (and prettier) the trip must have been.

The cache is a large vitamin bottle (a small container) with a log sheet and some state quarters in it. We didn't have any trade items in our car at the time, so we'll put some in later.

Take the La Moine exit and just avoid any no trespassing signs. You'll cross a creek and end up on old I-5. Enjoy the scenery and the river. The cache is wheelchair accessible, unless maybe the road snows in, which could happen in the worst of winter.
