This micro (small pill fob) is located on the south end of the Scenic 309 Byway on the south base of Mt. Magazine.
This is my favorite side of the mountain. I have competed in the Mt. Magazine 15k Run (from Havana to the Petit Jean Overlook), biked up (mountain bike) and over (road bike) the mountain and in high school this sign was our turn around on training runs.
The Scenic Byway runs across Mt. Magazine, home to Mt. Magazine State Park Park and a challenging (in that only a few adventurous, brave folks have tried it) geocache of mine called Way Up on the Mountain (GCJ6E9). This micro cache is located at the base of the mountain. There is plenty of room to pull to the side of the road just north of the cache.
It should be easy to find-the hint is a spoiler. This is a good place to stretch your legs and do whatever else you desire before making your way up the south side of the mountain. The cache is NOT located on the sign. The area is flat and clean as it is on the edge of the mowed area for the highway.
If you are one to carry a digital camera, please take your picture with the nearby sign and post it with the log (especially if you are not from this area). During the warm months you will encounter flying and crawling insects here. You may encounter almost any native species of animal here at any time on the byway. Please mention any encounters in the logs.
This cache can easily be found at night.
If you make the trip, I want you to find it-use the clue. There is another cache on the north base called Scenic 309 Byway - Foot of the Mountain North.
Cover for this cache: Investigating the sign, a particular large pine tree just east of the sign, or just taking a picture of the sign.
