Geocache Description:

Just off the Saints Way in Lanlivery. Well marked path that can get muddy, but quite an easy short stroll. Limited on-road parking nearby or you could visit the excellent pub and then leave your transport in the car park.

The actual holy well is at N50:23:961, W04:42:360 and used to be reached by a permissive footpath off the right of way near the cache site. It used to be visited frequently, judging by the number of 'tokens' left in it, on it and near it, but the land has been left neglected and overgrown with nettles and weeds, so access is now very difficult. St Brevita's church, in the village, can be seen out at sea beyond Fowey and allegedly has been used as a landmark by sailors for several centuries (until GPS!). The pub has reckoned to be on the present site since the 12th century. Good food, good beer and friendly service. Cache box is a camouflaged plastic 1 litre clip lock box. Reachable from the path. PLEASE REPLACE IT THE RIGHT WAY UP, to keep the rain out, and where you found it. ****Following a cacher's log about wire and ripped trousers PLEASE NOTE that the way to the cache is along a PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY . No fences or bushes to bash through nor banks to climb:) If you would like to expand the Ancient Wells Series by placing a cache of your own please contact LizMar2010 to request a number and to add the cache to the bookmark list. This series will encompass both ancient and non ancient wells such as springs and other water features which will always be worth a visit.
