“That is the question…Whether 'tis nobler in the mind of the cacher to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous hiders, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by reading the hints, end them?”
I had originally planned on naming this “Two Trips”, for reasons that will soon become clear, and not supplying any hints, however, my daughter, Mogwai913, pointed out just how mean that would be, and opined that doing so might result in my being beaten about the head & shoulders with blunt objects.
“O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me!" Fine, Maggie! I’ll bow down to courtesy, just a bit. "Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't."
This is not your typical, “Here it is, come find it”, cache. This cache presents the player with a bit of a moral dilemma. Should they read the hint whilst seated comfortably at their computer, or should they decrypt it in the field. What are the pro’s & cons for this particular hide?
This could be a simple 10 minute park & grab, or an extremely difficult, if not impossible, cache to find. It all depends on how prepared you are. It's only about 50' off of a well travelled road.
It is my opinion that you’ll need to take two trips to find & retrieve this cache, if you don’t read the hint. That being said, perhaps your geomobile is better equiped than mine, and you might have everything you need. If you don’t mind making repeat trips for nothing more than a smiley, Wally World trinkets and a large dose of personal accomplishment, then by all means, do your decryption in the field.
If, however, you prefer to be forewarned, then you should read the hint from the safety of your home, whilst sipping iced tea, and decide if you even want to attempt this cache.
The choice is yours. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Remember, there’s no crying in geocaching! The difficulty/terrain calculator determined this to be a 4/5. For me, it feels more like a 1.5/1.5, but that's cuz I came prepared. Y'all be the judge. You must sign the logbook to get credit for this find. You seek a well camoflauged 30 calibre ammo can.
Good luck!
Congratulations are in order for Out on Bail's FTF on a most difficult cache! Good job!
Post script; This cache is dedicated to the fine folks of The Federation, and espescially, Greg, who hosted the first geocaching event I've been to. The Federation has seemingly made it their mission to ensure high quality caches throughout the Ocala National Forest. Inside the cache is my gift to Greg, labelled accordingly. This is not a trade item, so please leave it for him. Thanx Brother!
