The stated coordinates are where you begin to solve the puzzle. Parking is only a few feet away.
Geo-sprout #2 went missing twice in its original hiding place, so it was move to a new location. Rather than another ammo can, a small plastic jar was used to make it less desirable. However, more recently in March of 2021, a "camper" has taken up residence nearby, making it an inappropriate location for a cache. Once again the location of the final has been moved, resulting in changes to the puzzle as well.
Remember all those things your mom used to tell you?
- don’t swallow your gum, it will stay in your stomach for 7 years.
- don't go outside with wet hair, you’ll catch a cold.
- don’t cross your eyes, they’ll get stuck that way.
- don't crack your knuckles, they will grow big and lumpy.
- don't drink coffee, it will stunt your growth.
- don’t sit too close to the TV, you’ll go blind.
You get the idea. Well, there’s one in the dark recesses of my memory that I can’t quite remember – something about if you grow too fast it will be harmful to your bones.
The Geogarden’s second micro-cache geo-seed (Sprout #2) grew to regular size so quickly that it is still learning to count. In a mere 10 days, thanks to help from Frisbee’r, FireFighterJ, justpedalin, Jury, and GrandpaDave, geo-seed #2 sprouted to full size. For five weeks I coddled it at home, making sure it was in good health before making an appearance on its own.
You get to help the sprout learn to count by doing some counting yourself.
Here’s how:
- at the start point pedestal, count and gather your first number.
- from the start point, head to the beginning of the pathway at N 47º 02.686 W 122º 50.035.
- go west on the pathway to N 47º 02.709 W 122º 50.094 where you gather you second number as you take a 180º turn to go into the tunnel.
- go into the tunnel where you will finish your counting.
Gather and fill in your numbers as you walk in this order, the first two on your way to the tunnel and the others inside the tunnel:
____ = the number of armed services represented at the given coordinates
____ = the number of arrows on the directional sign where you do a 180º
____ the number of deciduous trees (don't miss the tiny one)
____ the number of evergreen trees
____ the number of mountains
____ the number of inside lights (if one has been torn off, still count it)
____ the number of patches of blue sky
____ the total number of tile panels
Next fill in these blanks.
