Geocache Description:

This area has a troubled past! In the woods across from the cemetery is a cabin where several murders took place. The murders that happend there gave birth to a legend and spawned several rumors of a haunting!

Some time ago a man now known as the hatchet man went nuts and killed his family. He then chopped up their bodies and threw them in the well beside the cabin. This is a true story that inspired a plot line for one episode of a hit crime scene investigation show on TV!

There are some locals in the area that claim the cemetery and woods are haunted by the spirits of the hatchet mans family and that they will not rest in peace. Some claim the hatchet man himself haunts the area. Many people have had paranormal encounters in this area.

The legend is that the hatchet man was the caretaker of Mackey Cemetery (Hatchet Man) and still watches over the cemetery and woods near by! Many people claim to have had encounters with him late at night near or in the cemetery.

Wolf Skins is another nick-name the cemetery has taken on over the years. The story is that there are 2 stone wolves that sit on each side of the cemetery steps. When the wolves are not there they are out roaming the area with the hatchet man and protecting it from harm!

It does not matter if you believe in ghosts or not the story about the murders that took place in the small cabin in the woods across from Hatchet Man Cemetery is true! I would not recommend it but if you must come at night please be careful and watch out for things that go bump in the night!

You can see the cabin where the murders took place from the road. The following coords will take you to a spot on the gravel road where you can view the cabin. If the leaves are not on the trees you can see it real well. DO NOT enter the woods across from the cemetery where the cabin is at! It is posted NO TRESPASSING! You have permission to find the cache in the cemetery only.
