Located in the center of St.John's off the Mundy Pond walking trail. Thought I would make this one a little harder to find.
Mundy Pond was named after Robert Mundy who lived here in the area on a farm in the early 1800's. The area remained mainly a farming area until 1882 when a company called the Colonial Cordage Company set up a factory on Ropewalk Lane.
There is an island located in the center of the pond called " Roost Island” named after the many birds that roost there.
Before the 70's, Mundy Pond was much larger, and it extended hundreds of feet further south. The walking trail surrounding the pond has been placed here by The Johnson Family Foundation. It is a part of the Grand Concourse.
A bird watchers Paradise.
