An easy park and grab if you can find your way there. Be mindful that this cache is not located within the bounds of the airport, but OUTSIDE the fence.
This airport is about 10 Miles Southeast of Summerville.
It was used during World War II as a training airport
and is still in use today and is used by private aircraft.
In 1943 a Hudson Bomber flying out of Stanley crashed in Summerville.
If you look down over the hill into the cow pasture, you will see an old graveyard that is fenced and completely surrounded by the barnyard/pasture.
If you visit this cache during the smelt run in the spring, the river you cross to get to the cache is a local smelt fishing spot and you may see smelt fishermen all along the riverbank.
The URL that I have provided is for a webpage that contains an interesting link where you can use your flight simulator to virtually fly into Stanley. Have fun!
The cache is in a cylindical Lock n' Lock container, and originally contained A Suncatcher, A Shot Glass, A Scooby Doo Clippy Thing, A Small Flashlight, and some Dollar Store Swag. It also conatins a ziplock bag containing a logbook, pencil, and a stashnote.
This cache is dedicated to Richard, who needs more caches in Hants County to get him jump started using his new Garmin :)
