This cache has been archived.

paul.blitz: What you mean, archive it.... it's only April :-)

Yeah, probably IS time to say bye bye to this one.... The caches placed on the day will, of course, live on!

Geocache Description:

Now in its fourth year, the Late Christmas Cache Bash will be taking place on Sunday 29th January, 2006.

Yes, that's right, on Sunday 29th January, we'll be meeting at the Cart & Horses pub, in Kingsworthy (just north of Winchester), less than 50 yards from the A33.

Getting here is simple: from most directions, get yourself to Junction 9 of the M3 (that's the one to the North-East of Winchester) and take the A34 / A33 turning. Keep to the right-hand lane, as after about half a mile the road splits... the A34 to the left, the A33 to the right. Into the 50 MPH zone, around the bend, and take the turning on the left: the pub is about 50 yards on the right.

The pub opens now at 11:00am, and Lunch is served from 12:00 noon. The obvious choice is the Carvery, which costs £7.95 for big cachers, and £4.50 for little cachers, but other options are available (but expect a longer wait!). The carvery will be offering Beef, Gammon and Turkey, along with a Yorkshire Pud, Roast & Boiled spuds, and a choice of 4 vegs! *** Please can you indicate clearly how many of you (adults / kids) will be wanting to have Carvery lunch, so I can let the pub know fairly accurate numbers a few days before: you can post a note here, or leave a message in the GC.com forums *** (Don't worry: even if you just turn up on the day, you'll still get lunch!) They seem to be well organised... last year noone waited more than 5 mins for their roast lunch!

Now, this year, things at the pub will work differently: we'll be spread through the restaurant & pub... There will be a caching quiz (thakn go to Paul G0TLG for organising it!) plus there will be a cache for the day (not sure yet if it will remain as a proper, loggable cache).

There's plenty of other caches in the area, including "Itchen to get back to the pub", which we place for last year's event, and starts just opposite the pub!
