Geocache Description:

Number 1 in the Capital City Trail Series

Series Blurb:

This series of caches (9 in total) are designed to be done by bike. They are all on established bike trails. Most of the initial caches are three to five kilometres in length (one way). The cache location is not necessarily at the end of the trail, however if you do each one from the Capital City Trail and return to that trail, you will not have to double back (unless you miss something).

Each cache has clues for the Capital City Trail Cache (CCT-0).

The series is designed to be done either in one go (if your bum will hold out that long) or in bits and pieces. Except for the Capital City Trail, all the other trails are independent. Each trail is done as you approach it (off the main trail) and that trail will offer a clue to a following location on the Capital City Trail.

I would recommend doing the Capital City Trail anticlockwise (all downhill that way), as this is the way the clues will work.

All trails offer picnic areas (many BBQ's), playgrounds, drinking fountains, and amenities. That being said, please take hats, sun cream, snacks, and plenty to drink. Also, due to being alongside rivers and drains, after heavy rain some of the trails may be flooded.

Most paths are shared trails. Make sure that you are courteous to other trail users (especially when you slam on the brakes because you just missed a way point).

Trail Blurb:

Starting from the Capital City Trail you will be at a tube of metal and nine palm trees (so it looks tropical!). Construction has been completed to the stage that you can stay on the river side of the buildings as you start this cache.

This trail crosses the river at the end of this cache and continues around Williamstown and on to Altona Meadows.
