LAST MINUTE REMINDERS! :)
-
Please do not bring your own
firewood.
-
Please do not bring or use fireworks at the
event - use of fireworks may result in being asked to leave the
event.
-
All the swag is in and ready to distribute at the
event. We still have lots of pre-event expenses so if you
plan on buying a shirt or coin, help us out by buying ahead with
PayPal.
-
Thanks to all the VERY kind and generous offers of
support. Keep them coming, but please don't feel hurt or
ignored if your offer goes un-answered. We're "heads down"
heading into the final weeks here and will be posting specific
needs to the event page as required. If you can help with
that need - please do! Thanks!
Sponsors Many
thank you to Geocaching.com for sponsoring this year's
official event shirt! Without their kind sponsorship,
the shirts would have been more money! Big thanks to
them and if you have time - drop them a line to tell them you
appreciate the support for our event!
We didn't go out of our way to seek sponsors this
year, but if you have an interest in sponsoring this great event,
please contact us.
Watch For Updates We're not sure if
notices are going out to watchers any more. So please make
sure to drop in and check this page and http://www.midwestgeobash.org
for important news and updates. Make sure you set
a watch on the event page! That way if notices do go
out that way, you'll get an email.
Arrival – Entrance and
Exit Path
Please stay to the right when you are entering the fair
grounds. Follow the
road that leads away from the main expo hall and to the parking and
campsites. To improve
traffic there is one path in and out of the venue.
Camping Check In
We expect to staff the welcome point 5-8 hours a
day. If
you are rustic camping and no one is on duty, proceed
to the rustic camping areas (#6 on the venue map) and choose
an empty site.
Event Staff will be around later to check you in. Feel free to unpack and
begin setup in the meantime. Electric camping
requires assignment by Event Staff. Please sound your horn or
call on FRS radio to reach someone to check in. If you have electric
camping, please try to arrive during daylight hours so
volunteer staff can more easily assist you.
Please bring
a printout of your RSVP from the Geobash site to aid in campsite
check in. You should
be prepared to provide your confirmation number, name or email
address so we can look up your campsite reservation.

July 3, 2006 - July 6, 2006
Oakland County 4H Fairgrounds

Davisburg, MI
RSVP Please RSVP if you plan to attend in addition
to posting a "Will Attend" note. This is to help us gauge
attendance and also to prepare any event swag for those
coming. People who RSVP get first dibs on the free event
swag.
Talk While all major announcements
will be posted here on the event page, there's a bunch of
"Repeat Offenders" and first timers talking online in the MWGB
forums, feel free to join in the penquin-mongering.
Socials
Daily social events will be planed and announced as last
year. Coffee & donuts each morning and host camping zones
are the first of these.
Schedule of Events

This is still getting ironed out. We'll update here as
things get decided. If you would like to do something during
the event, we invite you to email us via our profile. |
Oakland County, Michigan is one of the
most open areas in the nation to Geocaching. With two of the large
park systems (Oakland County Parks & Huron-Clinton Metroparks)
in the area having official geocaching programs and park-sponsored
cache adventures there's lots to do.
We'll post details on the area caching as well as any tour
groups that will be doing them as the time comes nearer. We
also will be posting bookmark sets with "Self-Guided" caching
tours. The shores of the Great Lakes provide a great venue
for some scenic caching and if you've ever wanted to go
International - Canada's not far away at all!
-
All caches nearby
- Oakland
County Cache Bash - July4 through October 31. Sponsored
by Oakland County Parks. Enjoy caching in many of their
beautiful parks to complete this cache series, usually 8+ good
caches.
- Metroparks
Cache Series - 11 caches spanning 13 parks. A real
challenge! Over 240 miles of driving just to complete!
Great caches, some devious hides.

Lodging
On-venue camping is cheap and in
ample supply (with the exception of our 50 electric sites
available). We encourage everyone to take advantage of
on-venue camping.
If camping's not your speed, there's plenty of Lodging in the
area.
Food
We will have concessions on-site Monday - Sunday for your
convenience. The 4H Club will be running them. M-Th the
hours will be limited. Fri/Sat they will be open all
day. Typical concessions faire - hot dogs, burgers,
etc.
Coffee and Donuts are served each morning.
There will be a group dinner Friday and Saturday night.
Please plan on attending! The 4-H Club is preparing and
serving the dinner. They will be charging a per-plate cost,
we've asked to keep that under $6.00 per person.
Firewood
Please do not bring firewood!
There are issues with Emerald Ash Borer that we're just going to
avoid by asking everyone to NOT bring firewood to the event.
We will provide all firewood as we did last year. All fires
must be in fire pits. Fire pits will be set up in host zones
and firewood will be provided. We expect to scatter a small
number of fire pits around for cooking needs as
well. |
