Dudhope Castle is set in a beautiful park above the city of Dundee. The castle has had a variety of functions from home to Hereditary Constables of Dundee to barracks until 1881. It was even a mill for a short time. Most recently it has become the Dundee Business School of the University of Abertay.
The original house was built in the 13th Century as home of the Scrymageour family, appointed Hereditary Constables of Dundee by William Wallace. In 1684, the Scrymageours sold the castle to Bonnie Dundee, (he already had been bestowed the office of Hereditary Constable a year previously)
For the remainder of his life he chose here as his main home.
