This cache is located on the perimeter of the grounds. No need
for fence jumping here! Searching for a magnetic key holder.
This special place for the Schowalter Family has quite a history.
The Schowalter history can also be reviewed at the Jackson
Historical Society. According to a family member we spoke to, the
Schowalter's owned quite a lot of property here many years ago. The
original farmstead was across the street and now the family lives
in the house on the north side of the road to the west of the cache
location. He told us he believes that the current house is haunted
by numerous ghosts. According to him, family members have heard
small children playing in the basement of the house which used to
be where the original barn was. You can see two children's names on
the rock at the front of the cache location. Are these the spirits
of the children playing in the basement of the house? He also
states that numerous times, he has felt like he has been pushed
down the stairs of the house by an unhappy ghost! When you find the
cache, look straight ahead and count the trees. There is one for
every person there including the "ONE UNKNOWN MAN" as listed on the
memorial rock/plaque at the front. The family would love to find
out the identity of the unknown man, but have not yet been able to
do so.
